Beyond the Ocean Sea

The New World. 1532. An expedition to the Americas has come to grief and three of the survivors have been imprisoned by a tribe of Indians. They have been told nothing by their captors but all fear a brutal death, of being sacrificed to the various pagan gods of these savages. A conquistador, a priest and a slave must all now spend their final night on earth together in a pitch-dark cell, contemplating both their own personal extinction and the nature of imperialism itself.

A rehearsed public reading took place at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh on Friday 16 October 2009.

Ramirez,  Stuart Bowman
